Love it! Texas judge ruled the Texas ban on gay marriage is unconstitutional! Hahahaha! Lifting the ban is still being delayed though, that's the shitty part about it. I would like to see it be struck down and a ban lighten immediately upon decision of the court. How long is going to take for Oklahoma to stop fighting it and make it legal also? Instead of being the last state to approve of things the rest of the country has long embraced, Oklahoma stagnates because of the narrow minded bigoted hypocrites this state is governed by (I mean you Mary Fallon).

U.S. District Court Judge Terence Kern stuck down Oklahoma's ban on gay marriage yesterday. Mary Fallon is probably mad as hell. Now, just give me the ability to get a job where I am not discriminated against because its against some backwoods businesses owner's relinion and I'll be happier than a rainbow-eating unicorn!

I'm often told that I can't find a job because I'm doing something wrong. I present the question to them each time. I ask the same question and no one, no even former employers, can answer it without finally drawing the inevitable conclusions. Am I qualified for the jobs that I apply for? Check! Do I have good references? Check! Do I have a positive can-do attitude? Check! So, when I find these questions answered, I ask what am I doing wrong? They have no responds, sometimes a shoulder shrug and a quick change of subject. Let me explain. I do not walk into a room and introduce myself as "Hi, I'm Amanda, I'm a Lesbians." But I may as well do just that. It just sort of doesn't have to be said. Even at my girliest, the first real conversations are always - are you a lesbian..? And I always answer honestly. Yes, I am. This is always the problem I have found. Even if I were to try - and trust me, try I have - I can't hide who I am. In small towns full of people who read the Bible and interpret it as real life with no other alternative, its hard to find genuine acceptance. This brings me to my point. Someone asked me, well, why don't you just move somewhere that's friendlier to gays. Well, fuck that. No. I will not move to be accepted but I will move that acceptance be created where I am. I do not disagree with people having faith, having religion, having opinions. I do tho have a problem when that faith, that religion, and those opinions prevent me from having basic human rights that even criminals are insured, I have a proem. And if I move, the bigoted ass monkeys who think that bullying someone into changing or running the person out of town are ok ways to treat any human beings, its letting them win. Its been said that one can not change a situation from the outside, one must be on the inside to make a difference. Acceptance and equality among EVERYone is all the change that I want to encite.

The only way the state of Oklahoma is ever going to become a progressive forward thinking state is if they get a forward thinking politician (if one of those exists) in office. I don't care if its a democrat or republican, we need to get that hag Mary Fallon out of office. She has tried rewriting birth-control laws, tax laws, same sex rights laws, as well as writing her own laws that make our prison systems more profitable to keep inmates incarcerated. this bitch gotta go!

You know, if I can't find employment because of the fact that I "look" like a lesbian, (but if you'd just put on some makeup you wouldn't look like a boy) then fuck em, I don't need their job oppertunities, I will just find a way to create my own job oppertunities.

Call me crazy but its amazing that even open minded people openly insult lesbians and gays on a daily basis and it seems to just be acceptable. Not spossed to get into an argument over such things and turn mountains into mole hills. But if we don't get pissed off and tell people their words are often harsh or double edged, even if unintentionally so. GLBT community faces hard enough obstacles, living in rural towns full of narrow minded people makes it very hard to live a normal life. Shoving us into forcing us to change to suit their own definitions of normal is so wrong that it is sort of rediculouse.

I'm not, by any stretch of terms, saying that same-sex rights in this nation have not come a very long way, just in this last year. What I am saying is that there is a drastically different definition in the right to marry and having equal rights. I don't know about anyone else but I feel it is just as important, if not more important, to be able to get a job and not loose it because I work for a company with "christian values" that view my lifestyle as negative. As much as we have gained, we have not gained enough to feel secure in LIVING.

I don't know if anyone notices the trend of under employed being a great deal of gay and lesbian communities. Why is it that I have 15 years of experience in one single industry but can never find a job that pays more than minimum wage? Which, by the way, is not enough, even if offered overtime, to pay the bills. I have found that at the end of the day I have about the same amount of time that it takes for my employers to realize I really am a lesbian before they are trying t found ways to be rid of me. Until that point I am considered an exemplary employee. Really? How does this work?
I am hoping that the next election will see Govorner Mary Fallon replaced by ANYone else. This woman has been terrible for the progress of the state of Oklahoma, especially bad for Same-Sex marriage laws and homosexual rights. It has been hell living in this state and trying to be successful. Hell, screw being successful, just trying to be accepted in this place has been rediculouse and its because of crazy things like her "conservative republican views".

The concept of equality in our nodern day society is sadly lacking in equal thought. No one person shoukd be any less valuable than the next, according to US constitution. Unfortunatly, for a great many citezens, that is not the way it really works. Its, in this writers opinion, one of the biggest disservices to the population that our govornment can not understand the diffrence between religion and state. The policy makers often forget that the constitution also specifically states that religion and state should never cross. The constitution is blatantly ignored when it comes to subjects such as same sex marriage. Trust me, i know first hand. The fight remains the same. The bible says it is a sin to be homosexual while the fundamentals of our country says that it does not matter what the bible says. The lines of religikn and state are blurred. What has this got to do with equality, you ask? Everything for a homosexual. Without having equal rights, that means there are no recognized rights for them. A company can fire fire a homosexual if that is thier choice. The argument being that at-will employers need no reason to fire a person as long as its not for discrimination against religion, gender and ethicity. In no way are homosexual protected against discrimination. Being homosexual and trying to establish the right just to mary is the modern-day version of the civil rights movement and thats just to say "I do". To develop genuine equality, that a homosexual can feel secure in thier daily lives, is still a long way from where American culture is today. Health, happiness and love, as usual in America when dealing with a subject of new and diffrent , takes a back seat.
